Last week I shared a prototype pathway for consultants and clients to work together to build evaluation capability. Thanks to your feedback, in one short week it has progressed to a revised version (below and on my website).
And it’s available in French!
At the request of an evaluator colleague, and with the assistance of Google Translate I bravely shared my first attempt, to the amusement and/or bemusement of Francophone colleagues. Then, in an outstanding demonstration of the generosity of the evaluation community, Thomas Delahais kindly offered to refine the translation and now we have this:
We can take heart from finding the bots aren’t ready to displace human translators. For example, some of the metaphors in the English version had no direct equivalent en Français, requiring human judgement to retain the intended meaning. In the yellow box at the top of the pathway I used the words “Cheerleader: Fly! I’m here if you need me” to represent the stage where I’ve done myself out of a job. The (Google) translation of cheerleader was majorette or “pom pom girl”, a role for which I’m not qualified and would feel very much out of my depth. Merci Thomas Delahais pour l'aide à la traduction!
If you’re interested in translating the pathway into another language, email me and I’ll be happy to share the template with you.
